- Swarajists' manifesto included: Strong anti-imperialist stand, a plan to expose the selfish interests of colonial rule which kept Indians in a subservient position, and Nationalist demands of self-government in councils.
- Election results: Swarajists won 42/141 elected seats in the Central legislative assembly. They cooperated with independents like Madan Mohan Malviya and Muhammad Ali Jinnah and liberals formed a majority in legislatures.
- Gandhi’s attitude towards Swaraj Party: Initially, he was opposed to council entry as it was inconsistent with non-violent non-cooperation, later he moved towards accommodation with the Swarajists.
- The result of the 1923 elections and their working in councils too showed how Swarajists introduced a new spirit into Indian Nationalist politics.
- By 1924, Government in the name of fighting terrorism started targeting Swarajists, congress leaders and revolutionaries which led Gandhi to reconcile with the Swarajists.
- Belgaum session, 1924 (President- M.K. Gandhi): Here a joint statement was signed with C.R. Das and Motilal Nehru that ended the strife between Pro-changers and No-changers. Swarajists would now carry work in legislatures on behalf of Congress.
