At present, there is a total of 22 districts in the state of Haryana. Haryana is one of the 29 states of India, situated in the northern part of India. The history of Haryana districts starts on 1st November 1966, when the state of Haryana was carved out from the erstwhile state of Punjab. This move was made after the partition of East Punjab. At the time of its creation, Haryana was divided into seven districts: Jind, Rohtak, Hisar, Gurgaon, Ambala, Karnal, and Mahendragarh.
Besides the seven districts created, there are 15 more districts in Haryana. The latest one included in the list of districts of Haryana is Charkhi Dadri, which was newly formed in 2016 by separating it from the Bhiwani district.
