Al Hujwiri

  • Also known as Data Ganj Baksh.
  • He was a resident of Ghazni in Afghanistan and was forced to come to India as a captive of invading Turkish army.

  • He wrote Kashf-ul-Mahjub (Unveilling of the Veiled) to explain the meaning of tasawwuf.

Amir Khusrau (1253-1325 AD)

  • He was a great poet, musician and disciple of Shaikh Nizamuddin Auliya.

  • Gave a unique form to the Chisti sama by introducing the qaul (saying in Arabic), hymn sung at the opening or closing of qawwali.
