  • Nature: Antecedent
  • Source: near Mansarovar lake in Tibet.
  • Flow direction: first north-west and then sharp bend towards South-west
  • Important locations: Enters India near Damchok Forms deep gorge by cutting Ladakh range at Bunzi, north of Nanga Parbat. Enters Pakistan near Chillas. 

Note: Panjnad refers to five rivers of Punjab which are tributaries of Indus – Jhelum, Chenab, Ravi, Beas and Satluj.

Flows through Wular lake.
Joins Chenab near Jhang in Pakistan form meanders
ChenabTwo rivers; Chandra and Bhaga meet at Tandi near Kylong.
Originate from Himachal Pradesh Largest tributary of Indus
RaviOriginates from Rohtang pass in Kullu hills of Himachal Pradesh. Flows in between Dhauladhar and Pirpanjal ranges.
BeasOriginates from Beas kund near Rohtang pass.Joins Satluj within India at a place called Harike in Punjab.
Indira Gandhi Canal (India’s longest canal) is built. 
SatlujOriginates from Rakas lake near Mansarovar.
Antecedent river which cuts through the Himalayas at Shipki La and enters India.
