- SEBI has introduced a consultation paper to seek comments as to whether there is a need to introduce Concept of Accredited Investors in India.
- Accredited investors are those who can take informed decisions after understanding various financial products and the risks and returns associated with them.
- Usually, such Investors are high net worth Individuals and hence have financial capacity to hire expert managers/advisors to enable them to take financial decisions.
- Such Accredited investors are formally recognised in other countries such as USA, Singapore etc.
- To make it easier for such accredited Investors to invest money, certain rules and regulations laid down by the Government are relaxed in their favour.
- Even the financial service providers which offer exclusive financial services to such accredited investors are also given certain relaxations in regulatory requirements.
