Ramkumar achieved rank 4 on his fourth attempt at the UPSC Civil Services Exam, realizing his dream of becoming an IAS officer.

Ramkumar achieved the fourth position in his fourth try at the UPSC exam, fulfilling his goal of becoming an IAS officer. He studied architecture at the College of Architecture in Trivandrum. In his last year, during an internship, he decided to take the CS exam. Unfortunately, he didn't pass the prelims on his first go in 2019.
Determined, Ramkumar came back stronger and cracked the UPSC exam in 2020. This got him a place in the Indian Postal & Telecom Account and Finance Services. Still, he wanted to do better, so he tried again in 2021 and got the 189th rank.
Right now, he's training at the National Police Academy. When the results for the 2023 UPSC exam came out, Ramkumar was thrilled to find out he had secured fourth place, with Anthropology as his optional subject.
How have your strategies or approaches changed in your successive attempts?

So in my first series attempt, I believe I looked into a lot more content. So there was this problem of how to limit the content because you get a lot of good content from different institutes, from different sources and Telegram has actually increased the amount of content and data that you get.
So this time I believe what I did different is that I tried to reduce the content and also tried to have certain frameworks specially for mains, I believe a lot of the areas from where questions are asked it gets repeated.
So I tried to find data frameworks for each sub sector each sub section of the syllabus i made notes, made content, and then i tried to fit it into the answers. So that is one thing i believe i made slight difference.
You were associated with Rau's IAS in GS QIP and mentorship program. So how was your experience regarding the QIP as well as mentorship program?
So as it happened, I was a regular viewer of DNS videos in YouTube. And there was an offer for people who were regular viewers of DNS at reduced cost for the QIP in 2020. that is how I happened to be a part of the QIP program. And I did watch all the videos that were available during the mains preparation, after prelims for mains.
then in the 2021 attempt, I was also part of the mentorship program for which I was assigned a particular mentor, which happened to be you (Gaurav Tripathi Sir)and also looked into the QIP videos for content.
